Fight Practices

Donovan armours up

We have both a indoors and outdoors fight practice space, conveniently located at the same premises as our weekly canton meeting.

The indoors space is a public school gym. The outdoors space is grass/paved areas outside of the gym. We have TONS of space for fighters, more than enough for melees.

Right now on average Ard Chreag has about 7-10 fighters in armour at practice, with a few more almost in armour.

We hope this will get more people out to give us more interesting fight practices. Diversity is good, and we think it will be fun for everyone.

Ardchreag Yuletide Tournament

On the last fight practice of the calendar year in 2005, Ardchreag held a night of tournaments called the Ardchreag Yuletide Tournament. One point was awarded to a participant for taking part in a tournament, while bonus points were awarded for placing first or second in each tourney. Baron Sir Siegfried won the first AYT, and was presented a cup overflowing with candy.

Cliffside Challenge

On the 2nd Monday of the month at their regular fight practice, Ardchreag hosts a night tournaments known as the Cliffside Challenge.

Each tournament night will feature different tournaments, and scores will kept for all those who participate. At the end of the year, those with the top points will be recognized with prizes donated by members of the canton. As well, each night’s top winners will split a prize donated by Wat of Sarum. All winners will also be logged in the ongoing histories of Ardchreag.

These tournaments are open to everyone, and we invite and encourage all those in the Greater Toronto Area (and those beyond if possible) to consider coming out and playing with us!

Scoring will be done thusly: each participant in the tourney will be awarded 1 point. The first place fighter will be awarded an additional 4 points. The second player will receive an additional 3 points, and the third place fighter will receive an additional 2 points. In the odd case of a tie, both fighters will receive the points. Some of the tournaments may involve teams, in which case each member on the winning teams will receive the additional points. More than one tournament may be run each night.

For information and further updates, please feel free to contact Lord Wat of Sarum, Ardchreag’s Knight Marshal, and/or Laird Colyne Stewart, Ardchreag’s Bailiff and Captain of the Cliffguard.

Cliffside Challenge Schedule

Cliffguard

On February 16, 2004 Ardchreag formed the Cliffguard. The Cliffguard encompasses armoured combat, scouting, equestrian and fencing. This group, along with the Yeomen of the White Arrow, was to ‘keep the peace’ within the canton and be its protectors. Anyone can be a member of either or both groups, and it does not impinge on any other duties they may have militarily. (This is just for fun. Duties to the kingdom, barony or Peer take precedence.) The seneschal at the time of founding created belt favours for members of these two groups to carry.
